The YCW Archive and Research Centre Multimedia project commenced in September 2014 with the objective of promoting an understanding of the history of the YCW movement in Australia via digital output. Bringing different skills and perspectives to the project, a team of volunteers have been conducting research and creating short films that provide information to an audience about the AYCW’s past campaigns.
The first clip produced as part of this project was released in July 2015.
It is titled ‘The Road Safety Campaign 1967-1972’.
It tells the story of the Road Safety Campaign run by members of the Young Christian Workers (YCW) movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which played a significant role in helping to raise public awareness about issues including drink driving, seatbelt use and driver education. It draws on oral history interviews with two former YCW members who were active in the campaign.
Currently, the multimedia team is working on a second clip to be released before December 2015.
